Review of I'm Still Here (2010) by Matthew S — 22 Dec 2010

I didn't know if is like this going into it, because I heard mostly bad things, but I really enjoyed it. I think I liked it more since I knew it was a hoax before watching it. Sure, it's praised as being pointless, but I look at it as Casey Affleck and Joaquin Phoenix stepping outside of the box and doing something different and unique to what's being put out year after year.

I thought the whole film was hilarious and Joaquin was excellent. It takes dedication and guts to take on a film like this, and I feel like it deserves more credit than it was given. It makes me wonder if the negative comments from celebrities about the film is mostly due to the fact that the joke was on them and they weren't privy to the info as it was happening.

I could be wrong, but it makes me curious.
