Review of I'm Still Here (2010) by Stephen M — 29 Jan 2011
This movie is so wild. I figured that this was a hoax the whole time, but only because I knew of how good an actor Joaquin really is, and I knew he could pull off this act and keep a straight face. This movie is a fake documentary about Phoenix's life following his last movie Two Lovers and his announcement that he is done with acting.
This whole movie seems to be a look into his life as he finally cracks with the stress of fame and living the A-list life. Joaquin really comes across as someone who has totally lost it, and is just an emotional wreck.
He decides that acting is so fake and he wants to follow his heart by playing music, except the music he want to do is rap, which makes it that much more wild. I am glad this is a joke, because I love him as an actor and he has unprecedented talent.
The motivation behind this movie is unknown, but I think it's awesome that he literally dedicated over a year of his life in the limelight to fooling his family, friends, and fans into thinking he has totally lost touch with reality.
