It is ridiculously pretentious, yes, but it is also daring and motivated. This movie's premise is best described as interesting, or thought-provoking and its a decent look at the nature of celebrity.
Apart of me could argue that its pointless the other side would argue that although not thoroughly successful with critics or movie-goers, it is something that took a hell of a lot of balls to do, this is a very brave man.
And don't you go and tell me its stupid, because you were fooled just like everyone else, just like Roger Ebert was fooled, so shut up.
