Review of I'm So Excited! (2013) by Alistair L — 16 May 2013
High Camp Spanish farce that rides close to the bone on quite a few occasions, the three air stewards are at their best singing the theme song. The plot is simple, a plane takes off but the pilots know straight away there's a problem with the landing gear, so they need to find a free runway to emergency land.
Meanwhile, the whole of economy class has been drugged so that the cabin crew get an easy ride, and we follow the antics of first class, the stewards and pilots. It's very continental humour. Cruz/Banderas have pre-flight walk on cameo's but needn't have figured, and we never see the plane emergency land (cheap effects lol) - but there is a wonderful mobile phone sequence.
Almodovar is always worth watching, but the restricted concept for this idea never lets it really take off. Having said that, I thought it was shockingly fun!
