Review of I'm Not There (2007) by Joshua O — 17 Feb 2009
I strongly recommend everyone see I'm Not There. Not everything worked in this movie but at least Todd Haynes was trying to do something different and I respect him for it. Although this is a movie about Dylan's life it never refers to Dylan at all in the movie but what Dylan represents to all of us.
Todd Haynes also makes a lot of references to the French New Wave and Italian cinema especially Fellini's 8 1/2 which is strongly shown in the Cate Blanchett segment. Really great movie, definitely in my top 5 of the year I would say.
