Review of I'm Not There (2007) by Lalo G — 18 Feb 2009
A valiant attempt at cinema surrealism, yet it fails after an hour. The many guises of Dylan are acted well, Cate Blanchett is absolutely riveting as the young "Don't Look Back"-era Dylan in London.
..she is the film's saving grace in fact...the glaring problem is flawed juxtaposition of the various segues interconnecting Dylan's personalities as represented by fictional characters from his lyrics and his various selves throughout his career.
Blanchett is worth watching, damn spooky even. The 2 disc soundtrack is a more salient result from this production.
