Review of I'm Not There (2007) by Eileen C — 01 Mar 2009
While watching this movie I was distracted as I found myself googling musicians, history, poets and literature. Once I understood certain names and songs and events in Dylan's life I understood and appreciated the film more...however I will admit much of it went over my head. I have always liked Dylans music but in a " I listen to him once in awhile" sort of way rather then a follower of his career.
I expected this movie to be less abstract and more an informative and celebatory film of Dylans life, career and accomplishments.
Unless you are a die hard Dylan fan who knows every detail of this mans life...things in this film will go over your head. I LOVE abstract films and literature however in this case it was too much for me.
Although Im determined to do some more googling and watch it again.
