Review of I'm Not There (2007) by Olli H — 09 Mar 2009
Being a Bob Fylan fan, this movie peaked my interest immediately. And while it isn't biopic, there is the life & songs of Bob Dylan hidden in his many masks. And about these "masks", Cate Blanchett is phenomenal, Heath Ledger excellent, Christian Bale great & Ben Whishaw superb.
The young Marcus Carl Franklin was the only one who actually sang & played the guitar and that was quite the performance. The whole Richard Gere sequence was quite odd, but good nevertheless. And speaking of odd, there are many, many odd & wierd stuff jumping to the screen, but these are Dylan's lyrics made to flesh (I think) so it fits to the story.
The film is very artistic, though a bit too long. But if you're not gonna watch it with full 100% concentration, don't bother.
