Review of I'm Not There (2007) by Gabriel K — 06 Jun 2009
A rather unique and complex biopic of Bob Dylan. Six different actors portray six different aspects of the singer throughout his life. At first, the jumping across different aspects is a bit disconcerting and I'm not really sure it ever gets resolved (and not that it has to be resolved, either, since it is an ongoing "story").
Though some of the six aspects tend to overpower the others, the time allocated to each one seemed appropriate. Blanchett's performance is phenomenal, and her "aspect" of Dylan provides the most linear, biographical, grounded line in the film.
