Review of I'm Not There (2007) by Edgar C — 16 Jun 2011
It has always been funny to me how underrated films that deserve more credit never get it. My main problem with this slightly pretentious Bob Dylan "almost-masterpiece" is how uneven it came to be. Merging styles into a non-chronologically written screenplay was an attempt that was beyond Haynes' comprehension and abilities. You can't fool me. It's a refreshing movie, but perhaps if it had been shot entirely in black-and-white and in the style that surrounded Cate Blanchett's superb character (although being Italian-influenced), perhaps it would have been even a favorite movie of mine. I'll stick with The Wall.
Oh, and this is the second proof I have for affirming that Cate Blanchett could have been a tremendous classic star if she had been born 40 years before.
84/100.
