Almost makes sense, except for the part where she has been a widow- and never dated- for 20 years. Her relationship with the daughter, also, would seem a bit off as she must have been about 10. You might think the two of them would have formed a strong bond during her growing-up years.
The girlfriends are kind of played for laughs, but it's a gentle humor all around. Oh, and Sam Elliott? I'll see him in my dreams anytime!
