Susan Hayward gives a gutsy performance and earned herself an Academy Award nomination for this 1955 drama.
Hayward plays Broadway actress Lillian Roth (the film is based on Roth's autobiography). It chronicles her success on the stage and her descent into alcoholism. It realistically shows the slow painful crawl back for the actress.
