Review of Il Divo (2008) by Jim P — 29 Apr 2009
I think you'd need to have a more intricate knowledge of the Italian political scene than I have to make a fully rounded judgement but this was mostly a pretty good film.
It looks great and I liked the mix of realism and near fantasy and the scene where the Italian Finance minister dances a samba made me laugh out loud- I wonder if this is what Alistair Darling gets up to.
Toni Servilo has earned great praise and he captured brilliantly the enigmatic qualities of a character who increasingly brought to mind Harry Limes famious speech about Italy, the Borgias, Switzerland and Cuckoo clocks.
