Possibly the best Kurosawa movie ever, making it one of the best films ever made. Takashi Shimura shines in a heartbreaking role that will forever contest with Toshiro Mifune for the best performance in a Kurosawa film.
If you don't like Japanese films, stay away; this movie isn't for you. If you love good film, you cannot miss Ikiru.
