Review of Ikiru (1952) by Alex C — 28 Feb 2009
This film is about a worker who does nothing really with his life. He discovers he has stomach cancer and his life will end in 6 months to a year. He decides to live the rest of his life with new dedication.
At first he gets drunk and parties but then he finds that the job he was in for 30 years had a window of opportunity he did not see before. He strives to make the park and goes against even the highest person to get it done.
The striking aspect about the character is how sad the movie really is but it is also inspiring to those people who feel like they do not do anything with their lives. A nice reminder that we do not live forever and we should make the best of it by sacrificing ourselves for other people.
