Review of Igby Goes Down (2002) by Nelson P — 01 Sep 2009
Fine, original coming-of-age film with a great cast and superb writing. It evokes Catcher in the Rye, but Igby's family is much more messed up. The Susan Sarandon character is one of the worst mothers in movie history and she's hilarious.
Claire Danes looks very beautiful and seems to have outgrown her teenagey-ness. The real revelation is the underrated Amanda Peet as a beautiful junkie with a heart of ...well....brass.
