Review of Igby Goes Down (2002) by Brandon H — 19 Jul 2007
It's Catcher in the Rye style captivated me. I appreciated Kieran Culkin's title character and the way he portrayed him as this lost kid who is trying to find a way to make it on his own terms.
It's a dark comedy so don't expect to be rolling on the floor. There was one scene that really made me angry and that was when Susan Sarandon's character is sitting on the maid's face for no apparent reason.
It baffled me. Other than that it was a good watch. Goldblum acts with charisma. It's a gut wrenching tale of a family with a bunch of secrets and it works beautifully.
