Review of If I Stay (2014) by Claire L — 30 Dec 2014
An enjoyable and engaging watch. Not stunning, but still worth your time. Mortez does well, conveying believable emotion, and a really rather beautiful relationship with her family (the clincher of the film for me).
I wasn't that bothered about Blackly, his character wasn't very likeable, and his and Mortez's relationship was a bit 'meh'. There was a lovely sequence of the pair featuring a Ben Howard song which I loved though.
The film does what it sets out to do, and whole it probably isn't worth a trip to the theatre for, I think it is worth a watch. Teenage girls everywhere will probably love it too.
