Review of If I Stay (2014) by Tanice S — 06 Jan 2015
I expected a much better YA novel adaptation, but this isn't exactly great. It tries too hard to make you cry and there is just too much sad stuff going on to make you actually cry. Some of the tries are really desperate (like killing off almost every single member of the family one by one).
Acting, on the other hand, was great! I love Chloe Grace Moretz and her acting ever since I saw her in Kick-Ass. Story of the movie is quite nice, it's different than other YA novel adaptations I've seen, but still doesn't rise above some of them.
Soundtrack was really great and I loved it! Finally a movie about a girl who loves classical music, no more pop nonsense! All in all, it's a good movie that could've been one of the best YA adaptations, but it isn't.
It could make you cry, it could make you laugh, all depends on what kind of a person you are.
