Review of if.... (1968) by Caitlin F — 12 Dec 2007
Interesting film that is still controversial (based on the widely divergent opinions seen on "flixster"). Frankly, dismissing the film because it supposedly endorses school violence is a little like dismissing "The Wizard of Oz" because it endorses talking scarecrows.
The manner in which "if...." is presented clearly indicates that we're in a surreal world witnessing actions that may or may not be taking place. I found it fascinating, if at times a little in love with its own audaciousness.
