Lindsay's Anderson bold satire about a violent student uprising at a repressed English boarding school remains fresh and timeless after four decades (though it would almost certainly never be made today).
In his first screen role, Malcolm McDowell displays the talent and charisma and that would make him a star and Anderson's direction is strong and innovative as well.
