Review of if.... (1968) by Alan M — 18 Jun 2008
Following close on the 1968 riots in Paris and Grosvenor Square, Lindsay Anderson delivers an acerbic and disturbing satire on the latent nature of rebellion which features some highly sureal and disturbing set pieces.
The central focus of the director's ire is the class system in Britain and the way the Establishment controls everything. The maggot gnawing at the core of the whole rotten mess manifests itself as a group of boys at a top public school taking matters into their own hands and having some gratuitous fun.
......magnificent.
