Review of if.... (1968) by Y'ng Y — 03 Jul 2009
Hierarchical bullying and the crazy pent-up energy in a repressive institution breed revolutionaries. It is a cruel forceful film which causes involuntary cringing, a contextual violence that provokes a reaction without the blatant use of blood and gore.
Malcolm McDowell plays the rebel student with attitude and nascent psychosis that will later feature strongly in his role as Alex in The Clockwork Orange.
