Review of Idlewild (2006) by Caleb M — 17 Jan 2009
Idlewild has energy and a good soundtrack, but its too long and feels caught between a musical and a music video. Moulin Roughe showed us that hyperkinetic musicals can work, but that film had a strong romance and easily understood plot, while this gets a bit to confusing for its own good.
Overall though, the fun sound, look, and winning performances make it an enjoyably distracting 2 hours.
