Review of Idiocracy (2006) by Jenny Z — 04 Mar 2012
Yes, the concept is great... but about a third of the way through it becomes obvious just how little concept can drive a movie. Wilson, Rudolph and Shepard do fine with what they are given. I remember genuinely laughing a few times (it was at times difficult to determine whether the humour was coming from the irony of characters finding stupid stuff funny or whether the humour was aimed to the movie audience to be finding stupid stuff funny)(ha ha people getting kicked in the balls.
... - sarcasm). In the end... was there really a plot? Something about crop growing? Did I really just watch a movie where the plot was grass growing?
