Review of Identity Thief (2013) by Alan W — 16 Aug 2013
Coasting on the charm of the two leads, this is predictably standard fare, reasonably well executed but with little surprises. McCarthy proves to be very watchable and truly a rising star while Bateman perfects his average joe with a stick stuck up his butt role that he did so well in Arrested Development.
First half can be a frustrating watch as contrivances mount on top of convenient coincidences but once it hits its stride in the second half, it is harmless enough to kill an hour or so. Unessential viewing.
