Review of Identity Thief (2013) by Guido S — 13 Nov 2013
While I like the actors Bateman and McCarthy, this film is just a mess. Even from the trailers, this movie feels more like it has an identity crisis. McCarthy steals Bateman's identity, racks up debt, and he goes to find her to clear his name, and they end up taking a road trip like good friends somewhere down the line.
It just doesn't work. A lot of things felt forced and just don't flow well in the story. Outside of having Genesis Rodriguez and TI chasing them, why does she need to steal anyone's identity? Why couldn't she just been his crazy sister-in-law or someone he bumps into on a trip?
