Review of Identity Thief (2013) by Elizabeth B — 01 Jan 2014
Melissa McCarthy cracks me up no matter what she's in! Although ice never watched her TV show, Mike & Molly, every interview, movie, or guest appearances has me laughing. Her comedic timing and quick witted responses are what has me coming back to see what else she's done.
The plot of this movie is somewhat generic but has plausible moments. I wasn't a fan of all the "bad guys" hunts but I guess you can't really have a movie without a few of those and some conflict.
Jason Bateman has aged gracefully and with age has come an even better screen presence and performance. I'm old enough to remember his early days and it's nice to see him grow with the industry instead of following the paths of those can't evolve with it.
We've seen this movie several times and still laugh so that shows the jokes and pranks have staying power. I wouldn't recommend this for kids under 10 just because of choice language and some sexual content but that's just my opinion.
