Review of Identity Thief (2013) by Christian C — 08 Jan 2014
The premise is really just the spark for an ordinary road trip movie, but at least Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy have good chemistry. This feels a lot like the stink bomb 'Road Trip' from a few years ago, but where that one played up cruelty for cheap laughs, 'Identity Thief' finds its footing in contextual compassion.
It's not a great movie, but it's far more enjoyable than 'Road Trip' and you don't feel like the world is a horrible place when it's over.
