Review of Identity Thief (2013) by Kyle C — 26 Jul 2015
What would you do if someone stole your identity, you would go ape shit, that's what. Now what would you do if you actually ran into the person that stole your identity, you would whip that ass and have them arrested, Right???? You would think, but Jason Bateman's character does not do that, he does go ape shit but instead of whoopin ass and turning them in, he makes friends with the perpetrator.
That is the problem with this movie, now, to be fair, Jason Bateman is a funny actor sometimes, but here, he seems disinterested, like someone stole his Identity, HAHA. Now, on the bright side, Melissa McCarthy is very good and she is what makes this watchable, yes, she's a crook, but unlike most crooks, she is a very sweet person with a very depressing past.
It's not over the top hilarious but it is a sweet story of friendship, even if it is based off something that could never build a friendship. MILD RECOMMENDATION for a few funny scenes and Melissa McCarthy.
