Review of Identity Thief (2013) by Thomas W — 31 Aug 2013
Review:
This movie starts off well and then it seems to go downhill. The storyline is pretty ridiculous, but the whole point is that your not supposed to take it that seriously. I've never heard of the police telling a civilian to go to another state to catch a criminal. Anyway, there is a serious side to the movie which makes it slow down and become unfunny, and I was quite shocked to see how easy it was to clone someone else's credit card. It does become a bit of a road movie which makes the characters grow closer, like many other road movies out there. In all, its what I expected. Average but watchable!
Round-Up:
Jason Bateman has become type casted nowadays, but his movies always make money. Melissa McCarthy has become pretty popular since Bridemaids and if she wasn't in this film, it would have been stupid, but she has a way of making anything funny. As for the rest of the cast, they didn't have much to do because the main characters controlled the whole movie. By the end of the film, I was expecting a funny twist after everything that happened, but it just turned out to be corny. With everything that is happening in the world today, it is obvious that every just wants to have a laugh which is why this movie made so much money.
Budget: $35million.
Worldwide Gross: $174million.
I recommend this movie to people who like there road movies about credit card fraud. 4/10.
