Review of Ichi the Killer (2001) by Ade S — 19 Jun 2012
A strange one, read the movie info, it pretty much sums it up. The effects are dated, by today's standards, but the scenes in which death or pain are involved, Takashi Miike really does push the boat out.
Ichi, the character and the main bad guy, Kakihara, are probably both equally psychotic, difference being, Ichi does his killing when he's pushed, crying as he does it. I bought the Movie with the Anime dvd box set, and the Anime is really about Ichi's past, which preludes this movie.
It's equally mental.
