Review of Ichi the Killer (2001) by Jesse A — 20 Jul 2012
What people failed to see in this film is the twisted truth of life spread all over this movie. Despite how messed up these characters were, they acted more human than anyone, Ichi being a sad lonley boy whose mind had been tricked wrapped to believe pain = Love. And Kakihara whose mission to life is to bite the dust by someone that undestands pain.
Yes, this film is full blood and gore, but that's only half of it. You need to dig in deep and see the true story of what's going on. Miike puts his soul into this film and gives a film that we needed.
