Review of Ice Princess (2005) by Natasa R — 17 Jan 2009
What made "Ice Princess" just okay was that it had way too much plot. It was like the movie makers kept saying we need this and we need that, and finally, they just added too much. If it would have been pared down to the basic premise with just a little bit of the extras, it would have been fine.
The romance plot especially seemed forced. The other major flaw was the constant flip-flopping of the characters. The main character is the only one who stays consistant through out as being good. The mother objects to her daughter's skating for semi-lame reasons and then suddenly switches at the end.
The coach recognizes the girl's talent but continually sabatoges her without even the tiniest bit of guilt, yet she supposedly redeems herself at the end. Finally, the only other likeable character shows herself to be jealous and petty in the end.
