Review of Ice Princess (2005) by Stefani G — 28 Dec 2009
This was a bad movie. Well, I suppose it was "ok." Why was it so bad? The protagonist is convinced that her dream (despite its short shelf-life in terms of life goes) is what will be better than an academic one. More specifically: she wants to do figure skating vs. going to Harvard (which she was considered for).
The acting was alright, although I will say, Joan Cusack's acting was great...and I completely agreed with her character's resolve of having her daughter go to a university...the movie would have been a lot different had the protagonist had a father.
Meanwhile, the blonde girl was struggling with school because she was being forced to skate. What terrible decisions! Instilling good positive morale to our youth is something this movie does not do...in fact, it does the opposite.
It's mildly entertaining to watch once, but don't buy it, it's not worth it, especially as a family movie.
