Review of Ice Princess (2005) by Katelyn W — 31 Jan 2009
This is the kind of movie you watch when you're home sick from work and reaching for the remote feels like agony. I'm sure the message here is "follow your dreams". And if your dream is to be an ice skater, go for it.
But they had her blow her Harvard interview just to go skate and I was thinking, "Wait. Can't she just finish the interview, get into the school (because she was definitely going to get in ) and THEN go skating?" How awesome would it be to have Harvard as a backup, especially when you're a super smart science chick? I disagreed with her reasons for wanting to skate-it made her feel pretty and graceful.
Nice message, Disney. Smart girls can NEVER feel pretty and graceful. Also, can't Kim Cattrall play a character without an ounce of smarm and deviousness? One note bitch. At least Hayden didn't play the high school bitch for once, and the mother/daughter story kind of moved me.
Other than that, a waste.
