Review of iBoy (2017) by David S — 30 Jan 2017
This teenage superhero film was kind of confusing because the poster advertises Will Poulter and there's even a trailer with Poulter in it but he isn't in it and it's Bill Milner. I take it there was a booking issue and Netflix was too lazy to fix the poster.
iBoy wasn't bad, it has its pacing issues and the premise itself is kind of ridiculous, but it's a sci-fi flick, it supposed to be odd and weird. iBoy reminded me a lot of the video game Watch Dogs in a way.
It has its cliches and generic aspects but it's a pretty dark film as well. There are some hard scenes to watch for some people, especially for an angsty teenager film (I can watch anything). Maisie Williams is also very good and is Rory Kinnear.
There's worse out there but I didn't mind iBoy too much, I enjoyed it.
