Review of I Wish (2011) by Bank K — 13 Oct 2011
Another understated and slow-paced gem from Koreeda. The film captures childhood with brilliant observations and imagery. It's a coming-of-age story that places us in the minds of the innocent protagonists.
It's nothing particularly revolutionary and it does move at a very slow pace but it leaves you feeling as if you've been a child for two hours. The ending is beautifully moving. I loved the inserts and cutaways reminiscent of Ozu and Satyajit Ray.
