I saw this film when very young, and became forever terrified of unsavoury company. In "The Player", this is the film they (stupidly) make a sequel to, with Julia Roberts in the lead, and with a different ending.
This is based on a true story, and it's quite spellbinding. The score, with Chet Baker and Gerry Mulligan, is remarkable.
