Review of I Want Candy (2007) by Nick S — 29 Jan 2009
A thoroughly enjoyable British comedy, which I cannot for the life of me see why it get such a bed reputation. The characters are rich, entertaining and ultimately loveable and succeed in making the story very compelling, from Carmen Electra's porn star to the student filmmaker, to the crazy film teacher and so on I thought the cast were brilliant.
The jokeage, whilst a tad predictable still delivers the goods with some genuniley hilarious occurances taking place. If your a film student no doubt you would have enjoyed the various nods to your education in the film, Mackenzie Crook's crazy arty "down with the kids" lecturer excelling in his role, perhaps even deserving of more screen time.
One thing that I did find slightly surprising however, is when two of the main characters ( I won't spoil whom) seem to get together with not much build up to the big kiss. Perhaps there should've been a tad more time dedicated to that but that's just nitpicking on my part.
Well worth your time and money!
