Review of I Wake Up Screaming (1941) by Doug C — 15 Oct 2008
I'll try and remember the name H. Bruce Humberstone (yeah, doesn't roll off the tongue like Fritz Lang), since he's made one of the first and still most classic film noirs of the period. It's got the whodunnit, it's got the classy dames with more than a little motivation and guts, it's got the tough guy lead who is lookin to prove his innocence, and the smug and slimy cop out to bust him.
And as great as the direction can be, how about the dialog!
