Review of I Vitelloni (1953) by Ryan J — 23 Jul 2007
Somewhere between the birth of Fellini and his latter day explosions of crazy (some brilliant, others not so much) came this film, and it could be his best work. A story about the dangers of not growing up, a tapestry of a generation that rings as true to my own as it must have to Fellini's.
A beautifull woven study, shockingly tame but precisely chosen to be such. The last shots of the film are a few of the most powerful uses of the language of film to convey an idea that I've seen to date.
Wonderful.
