Review of I, Tonya (2017) by Dougk — 07 Apr 2018
The movie is well made, good writing, good direction, photography, acting, not too much skating or domestic violence. The story evokes sympathy for Tonya in general and tries to paint her as innocent in the attack on Kerrigan.
The idea that her husband was also innocent because he was paying $1000 to have a letter delivered from Boston makes no sense at all. You shouldn't have to pay much of anything for that. It is doubtful that he was innocent and totally unclear whether Tonya was given that.
She is a sympathetic figure in the movie and it is too bad that she lost her career but no one should base their life on a sports event. The movie surprised me, I had not expected it to be as good as it was.
