Review of I, Tonya (2017) by John935 — 06 Jan 2018
Pretty unusual biopic about a great figure-skater who was 'involved' in an attack on a competitor. Not a great film but quite a good one, partly for the audacity of its subject and its ability to retain ambiguity while holding our attention.
Some of the ambuigity has to do with the 'incident' but also it pertains to the need to veer between comic and sad. How are we supposed to react? The film gives us no set answer. It's riveting anyway.
