Review of I, Tonya (2017) by Mike V — 06 Jun 2018
I, Tonya is a 2017 American biographical film directed by Craig Gillespie.
Based on a true story, I really enjoyed the mockumentary style which was used in this film. The first half is particularly well written, and it had me laughing on numerous occasions. This was largely due to the performance of Janney, playing Tonya's mother. As the story develops it becomes more dark and serious but always intriguing. The movie is able to balance its elements of humour and pain very well, often quickly switching from one to the other.
