Review of I Still See You (2018) by Hilary C — 12 Oct 2018
I don't know if to laugh or feel a sense of despair that "top critics" here criticize the movie because it has "science" in it, "jargon" they couldn't understand, that it was an academic chore, that it was too complicated.
Good grief, this is an intelligent movie, with a vocabulary that is intelligent. So sorry they can't keep up, but this was a good film. Education is a wonderful thing, we clearly need more critics who have higher comprehension skills.
Emotion: confusion, grief, despair, fear, worry...well what would you expect from a movie where half the town was wiped out? I liked it. It was an intelligent film that you need to pay attention to. Despite being a fantasy tale, it was realistic about how life does go on despite a catastrophic event.
I liked the science aspect of it; that it showed teenagers who have intelligence. Setting the film in the middle of winter helps maintain the dark look of the film. I figured out the who-done-it and all the whys and wherefores, but overall, it was a decent flick.
I'd say it is a 3, but I'm putting 5 to tip the balance on others who lack depth. :).
