This film surprised me but also frustrated me. Let me commence by saying that I never saw the original (I probably was not born or too young when first released). But when I read this movie was banned and reviled, I suddenly am behaving like a teenager and thought I have to watch it, after all it was banned- wow! Hey now I am an adult and I can watch whatever I want.

So, I read the plot and knew it was a difficult subject matter since the protagonist Jennifer Hills (Sarah Butler) goes to spend some alone time at a cabin in the woods to work on her next novel. Well in the first five mins of the movie I counted about six things she does wrong that I would never do if I am traveling alone but she is just following a script so I can't blame her.

Anyways she asks some red necks that work at a gas station for directions to her cabin. They became interested in her and break into her cabin one night where they taunt her and eventually rape her. A word of caution- this film is brutal not only in the rape portrayal (scenes) but in the revenge she takes on the men that rape her.

The writer came up with some gruesome ways to die but they deserved it!!! So Bravo for Jennifer whose "sole purpose is to turn the tables on these animals and to inflict upon them every horrifying and torturous moment they carried out on her.

..only MUCH MUCH MUCH worse! The first 50 mins are either boring or unpleasant to watch but the last 40 mins of this film are explosive and I strongy recommend you watch the special features where you mee the director (Steven Monroe) who talks in detail about his project and the actors in the movie.

I was blown away at how nice and smart some of the actors were that portray the rednecks in the film- night and day!! That is the sign of a good actor and let's not forget the high level of comfort they must achieve and feel in order to film the scenes I saw on this motion picture! My favorite revenge death scene was the castration (you have to see that) but the sheriff also had a shocking death and let me stress very much deserved! So next time you are angry, mad, upset and need to vent out your frustrations just watch "I Spit on your Grave" .

...life will never be the same! Recommended!
