The problem with this remake of I Spit on your Grave (a problem shared by the recent remake of Last House on the Left) is that part of the effectiveness of the original was its gritty, independent feel.
The remake is essentially the same story of a rape victim getting revenge but it's much more polished. As a result, it came across as not all that much different from any other modern torture porn film.
