Review of I Spit on Your Grave (2010) by Adriana J — 16 Jun 2011
A gruesome and intensely disturbing remake of the 1978 horror shocker, it concerns a beautiful young writer, played superbly by Sarah Butler in a sterling performance, who rents a house in the deep woods so she can have the peace and quiet she needs to write her first novel, but her retreat becomes a living nightmare, when a local group of sadistic thugs break into her rented house, verbally tormenting her, brutally beating her, and viciously raping her numerous times, and before they can finally kill her, she manages to throw herself into a river.
The group searches for days for her body to wash up on shore, thinking that she has been eaten by gators, they think their troubles are over, but they are so wrong, Jennifer is alive and is now mentally scarred and psychotic, she begins her campaign of vengeance against these low life thugs.
The audience really gets true satisfaction watching these truly inhuman monsters get their just desserts, it is poetic justice! Jennifer comes up with some clever ways to make these animals suffer before killing them.
Very well made with excellent gore effects, and scenes of such sheer terror and suspense that they will have you squirming in your seat. Warning: "Not for the faint of heart!" Recommended.
