Review of I Spit on Your Grave (2010) by Eytan D — 18 Dec 2013
The original "I Spit On Your Grave" is dreadfully uncomfortable, suspenseless, badly acted, exploitative trash. But it's notorious for being so. And the good news is the remake of "I Spit On Your Grave" actually avoids being exploitative.
It improves upon a very bad original by injecting suspense, a more satisfying build-up to Jennifer Hills' revenge, a less drawn-out but still disturbing enough rape scene, better acting (especially from Sarah Butler), and even more brutal but crowd-pleasing violence.
It's not the remake of "The Last House on the Left", but "I Spit On Your Grave" is certainly more well-made and better than the original. Entertaining? Definitely not. But it's definitely efficient.
